The Physical Therapy Department at Doylestown Hospital treats patients with a wide variety of neurological and orthopedic diagnoses. Services can begin during an inpatient stay at our hospital, or be prescribed on an outpatient basis. Outpatient Physical Therapy is located in a spacious gymnasium area off the hospital's Main Lobby.
After receiving a physician referral, a physical therapist will perform an individualized evaluation based on the patient's diagnoses and needs.
A physical therapy evaluation consists of, but is not limited to, the following: assessment of a patient's range of motion, strength, endurance, functional mobility and neurological status. Treatment can consist of patient education, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercises and modalities. The therapist tailors the treatment plan to meet the patient's needs. The plan of care and goals are always discussed with the patient.
