April 2012 Associate of the Month
Eileen McFadden was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from St. Joseph's College in New York after studying Early Childhood and Special Education. Eileen has always had an interest in the medical field, and spent 12 years volunteering as an EMT for ambulance crews in New York and New Jersey.
Eileen married Joe McFadden in 1983 and spent the next several years raising her family. About 18 years ago, the family moved to Plumstead in Bucks County. Eileen joined Children's Village as a teacher four years ago. She has instructed 2- and 3-year-olds and is currently with the 4-year-old class. She enjoys their sense of humor and creativity. "I get to laugh at work every day," says Eileen. "The ideas the children have just blow my mind away." She considers Children's Village "one huge happy family." Eileen keeps the kids busy with art projects, games and outdoor play. Her goal is to help build their confidence and independence.
Jane Mahler, Director of Children's Village, describes Eileen as "one of those wonderful associates who volunteers readily to help with what ever is needed. She has stayed and gone with a late family to the E.R. when their child was injured and required stitches. She always looks for ways to enrich the curriculum and to make adjustments so that it is appropriate for all learners. She has helped with children's activities at the openings of Pavillion 2 and the heart health fair at the Montgomery Mall. She is very flexible with her hours and willingly changes her times when it will help with ratios and staffing. Eileen is a loving, caring teacher who gives 100% every day and is a role model and mentor for younger staff. It is a pleasure to have Eileen part of the Children's Village family."
Eileen's daughters, Karen, 26, and Maureen, 23, live in the area and Eileen enjoys spending time with them and the rest of her family. She enjoys doing stained glass projects and reading.
Congratulations to an exceptional Associate!
