William R. Rate, MD, Leads Radiation Oncology Staff
Radiation Oncology Doylestown Hospital is led by William R. Rate, MD, PhD, a member of the medical staff of Doylestown Hospital. Dr. Rate joins Penn Radiation Oncology as a clinical associate professor.
A graduate of Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now Drexel University College of Medicine), Dr. Rate completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his medical education, Dr. Rate earned a PhD in microbiology and immunology from Temple University School of Medicine. After beginning his career in Indiana, Dr. Rate spent several years as the primary on-site physician at the High Point Cancer Center in Chalfont.
Dr. Rate treats all types of tumors and malignancies, but has particular expertise in treating head and neck cancers, as well as breast cancer and melanoma. A member of several prominent national medical societies and organizations, Dr. Rate has participated in clinical research through the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Protocol, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. He is board certified in radiation oncology.
