Larry Ravetz, MD
Medical School: Medical College of Pennsylvania
Residency: University of Kentucky Medical Center
Dr. Larry Ravetz is a hospitalist who is board certified in internal medicine, the specialty that focuses on adult medical care. He practiced general internal medicine for 16 years before becoming a hospitalist in 2006. The hospitalist's role, explains Dr. Ravetz, is to act as the patient's primary care provider while that patient is in the hospital. "We direct and coordinate medical care as part of a team often involving other specialist physicians, nurses and social services," he says.
He appreciates the team approach that characterizes medical care at Doylestown Hospital, where a variety of specialists are available to meet the needs of even the most challenging cases.
Dr. Ravetz holds professional membership in the American College of Physicians.
His approach to patient care stresses "attention to detail and a focus on addressing patient and family concerns," says Dr. Ravetz. He appreciates the challenge of determining the right diagnosis and creating a treatment plan that incorporates the individual patient's unique circumstances. He offers the following quote from Sir William Osler: "The practice of medicine is an art, based on science."
