March 2012 Associate of the Month
Brenda Feeney, LPN
Brenda Feeney was born and raised in Souderton. After graduating from Souderton High School, she married and had two daughters, Nicole and Rebecca. Brenda always wanted to be a nurse and went to school to fulfill her dream. She graduated in 1982 and joined Doylestown Hospital in 1983 as a part-time staff nurse.
Brenda joined the GI Lab in 1995. She is responsible for ordering supplies and doing inventory for the busy unit. She also assists physicians with procedures. Last year, Doylestown Hospital gastroenterology physicians performed almost 10,000 endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy- upper endoscopy) and polypectomy and biopsy. In addition, Brenda acts as a preceptor for the unit mentoring all the new Associates. Brenda enjoys being part of a team and working in an environment where "everybody cares about each other." She also likes the role she plays in helping patients. "I like knowing you are helping someone to prevent disease and stay healthy," she says.
Clinical Manager of Endoscopy Karen Longmore, RN, BSN, CGRN says Brenda is "well liked by the physicians, co-workers, patients, and families. She is one of our nurses who volunteers to come in during the night if a GI case needs to be done emergently, and works the next day without any complaints. Brenda is supportive in the procedure rooms with patients comforting their fears about the procedure. She coordinates time with different reps that supply our endoscopy equipment and keeps inventory of all the stock in both the Pavilion and hospital GI procedure rooms. She is very meticulous about her work and well organized."
Brenda lives with her significant other, James Brady, in Sellersville. She enjoys fishing - both saltwater and fresh water - and reading. She also likes spending time with her three grandsons and other family members. Her daughters, Nicole Hershey and Rebecca Feeney, both live in the area.
Congratulations to an exceptional Associate!
