
Heart failure may cause you to have fluid build-up in your legs, ankles, feet, lungs or abdomen. By recording daily weights, it is easier for you to see any increase in fluid.
Daily Routine
1. Record the date and weight for that day. 2. Weigh yourself at the same time each day with the same amount of clothes on. 3. Record any changes made in your diuretic (water pill) that day.
Notify you physician for:
- Weight gain of 3 pounds or more in one day or 5 pounds or more in one week.
- Increased ankle, leg, feet or abdominal swelling.
- Decreased exercise tolerance.
- Worsening shortness of breath.
