Michel Chapnick, MD Medical School: Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences Residency: Albert Einstein Medical Center
Professional Profile Dr. Michel Chapnick is a hospitalist who is board certified in internal medicine. He has been practicing medicine for more than 20 years. Simply put, the two things that attracted him to medicine were taking care of people and making them feel better. He also enjoys the intellectual challenge of identifying a problem and finding a solution.
After working in private practice for many years, Dr. Chapnick was attracted to hospitalist medicine because "this remains an exciting field of medicine that has grown exponentially over the last ten years." He is glad to be part of this new movement in medicine that aims to improve the quality of care that patients receive while in the hospital.
Dr. Chapnick notes the difference between private practice and hospitalist medicine. While a private physician leaves the hospital for office hours, a hospitalist is always available in the hospital in case the patient's status suddenly deteriorates. "We offer a continuity of care that is a luxury that a private office doctor can't offer," says Dr. Chapnick.
Personal Profile Even as a child, Dr. Chapnick always wanted to practice medicine. "Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing someone come in sick and improve because of my care," he says.
For him, Doylestown Hospital is unique because it offers all the amenities of a large hospital with the feel of a community hospital. "Practically on a daily basis I receive compliments from patients and their families that they 'could have gone to a bigger hospital, but would never go anywhere except Doylestown Hospital'."
