February 2013 BRAVO Award Elizabeth Patterson, RN 2 North
Liz Patterson, RN, was born in Philadelphia and spent her early years there before moving to Reading. She graduated from Holy Name High School in Reading and then went to Gwynedd Mercy College to study nursing. She says she always wanted to be a nurse. She graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) and started working at Doylestown Hospital in 2002. She started out on 3 East but later transitioned to 2 North. Doylestown Hospital's newest acute care unit officially opened in May 2010. The 40 private medical-surgical/telemetry rooms are located on the second floor of the hospital's new state-of-the-art ER.
For Liz, one of the best parts of her job is "the people I work with," she says. "Patient care comes first. That's why I got into this profession. Doylestown Hospital goes above and beyond when it comes to patient care." Liz is also a Charge Nurse on 2 North and she serves on the 2 Acute Care Nurse Practice Council.
According to Clinical Manager of 2 Acute Care (North and South) Lisa Saalfrank, "I got to know Liz in 2010 when 3 East officially closed and the staff found a new home here on 2 North. This move brought challenges of a new patient population and new skills like learning telemetry. Liz embraced these challenges and has grown in her nursing practice. I quickly learned that Liz is an exceptional nurse. She is professional, knowledgeable, thorough, conscientious, dedicated, and a team player. She is also a patient advocate. She gives her all and leaves no stone unturned--whether it is checking charts, speaking with physicians, working with other departments, or interacting with patient and families. She strives to provide the best care for her patients."
Liz and husband, Brian, live in Lansdale. She enjoys heading to New York City and the beach. She also likes shopping and reading.
Congratulations to an exceptional Associate!
