Our Parent Education programs focus on all aspects of pregnancy, infant care, and parenting.

*Please note that a 48-hour class cancellation notice is required for a refund for all hospital childbirth and parenting classes.
Prepared Childbirth Classes
Our childbirth classes will help you prepare for your birth experience. You will learn about the labor process from one of our certified educators. Sessions include practicing comfort measures, relaxation, and breathing techniques, as well as a discussion of medications, cesarean birth, and more. Please bring a pillow and blanket to your class. Tour of the V.I.A. Maternity Center is included.
We offer two choices for classes.
Four-week series: Meets one evening a week (Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday), 7:00 to 9:30pm
One-day class, held in Doylestown Hospital: Saturday or Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

Childbirth Refresher
A one-session class for parents expecting a second or subsequent child. The class includes a discussion and review of the labor and birth process, birth options and medical interventions, and a video on maternity anesthesia. Tour of the V.I.A. Maternity Center is included. Fee: $30 per couple (If you register on line, please leave the number 1 in Number of Attendees. One indicates a couple). Held every other month in Doylestown Hospital.
Breast-feeding
Learn about the many benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby from one of our breast-feeding educators. Learn about the basics of breast-feeding, breast-milk collection, and storage. Fathers are encouraged to attend. Fee: $30 per couple (If you register on line, please leave the number 1 in Number of Attendees. One indicates a couple). Classes are at Doylestown Hospital, 7:00 to 9:30pm.
Doylestown Hospital is committed to providing breast-feeding support for all of our new mothers. Breast-pump rental and sales, as well as 7-day/week lactation consultations, are available. Call for more information, including costs: 215-345-2200 ext. 4637.
Babywell
Nurse educators teach how to care for, feed, protect, and comfort a newborn.
Fee: $30 per couple (If you register on line, please leave the number 1 in Number of Attendees. One indicates a couple). Held monthly in Doylestown Hospital, 7:00 to 9:30pm.
Sibling Education
This class is designed to ease a child's separation anxiety and deal with feelings of jealousy toward the new baby. For children 3 to 10 years old. (Please bring your child's favorite doll or stuffed animal to class.) FREE. Held quarterly in Doylestown Hospital.
Grandparenting
New to grandparenting? Come learn the latest in newborn care, parenting styles, and baby safety to help the next generation grow up healthy and safe. FREE *Beginning in June, the fee for the Grandparenting class will be $20. (If you register on line, please leave the number 1 in Number of Attendees. One indicates a couple). Held on Tuesdays, once a month in Doylestown Hospital, 7:00 to 8:30pm.
Birth Options With a Certified Nurse-Midwife

V.I.A. Maternity Center Tours
Held on Tuesday and Saturdays, twice a month in Doylestown Hospital's V.I.A. Maternity Center. A guided tour of the V.I.A. Maternity Center includes a brief overview of what to expect during your stay. Registration is required. Tour begins in the Main Lobby of Doylestown Hospital. FREE. *Please note: If you are planning to take a Prepared Childbirth class at Doylestown Hospital, a tour is included. You DO NOT have to sign up for this tour.
