The Doylestown Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program - Phase 2

CARDIAC REHAB HELPS HEART PATIENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE


Phase 2 Cardiac Rehab provides a safe place to develop a heart healthy lifestyle

Location: The Doylestown Hospital Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program is located by the Main Lobby of the hospital, next to the Chapel and Rehabilitation Office.







 

Phase 2 Monitored Cardiac Rehab - Begins when you return to the hospital as an outpatient. 
The start of Outpatient Cardiac Rehab varies according to your cardiac diagnosis:

Angioplasty/Stent:  Outpatient Cardiac Rehab
begins 1 to 2 weeks after your procedure.

Heart Attack:  Outpatient Cardiac Rehab
begins 1 to 4 weeks after your event.

Open Heart Surgery:  Outpatient Cardiac Rehab
begins 5 to 6 weeks after your surgery.

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is medically supervised by a Medical Director, Cardiologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and highly skilled Exercise Physiologists & Registered Nurses.  Registered Dieticians are available for one-on-one appointments.

Your cardiologist will evaluate your initial progress and clear you to begin exercising.  Exercising is essential in helping your regain strength and rebuild heart muscle.  Exercise will also help to prevent further cardiac problems.

Our highly trained nurses and exercise physiologists will work closely with you to establish appropriate goals and heart healthy outcomes.

Exercise Program: 

Your program will be individualized based on your orientation       appointment and your initial exercise assessment.  As your fitness level improves we will safely progress your program in both intensity and duration.


Exercise Safety:

Our program provides a high-tech continuous ECG telemetry station that monitors every heart beat. Blood pressures will be taken frequently, as you warm-up, exercise and cool down.  To assure the best results and outcomes we will work very closely with your cardiologist by providing important information i.e. electrocardiograms, blood pressure, symptoms etc.

Our monitored program enables the patient to exercise without worry, knowing that if anything would happen our Cardiologists will respond within seconds.

Individualized Education: 

We will work with you before your exercise session, during or after.   Our staff will make sure your educational needs are met and you receive the appropriate material.

Heart Healthy Diet, Weight Loss, Stress Reduction, Emotions and Heart Disease, Benefits of Exercise, Heart Disease, Women and Heart Disease, Cholesterol, Common   Cardiac Medications, Environmental Concerns, Stretching, Progressive Relaxation, Resistance Exercise, Exercise Compliance and much more.

Results:

To maximize all of your positive results accomplished in our program, at the end of phase 2 cardiac rehab, you will receive an individualized plan of care, which includes home-exercise guidelines, risk factor status, and new goals and interventions to further improve your cardiac health.

Tuesday, Thursday:  6:00am to 10:30am

Saturday:  7:30am to 9:00 am
