The PET/CT Center at Doylestown Hospital
Doylestown Hospital, in conjunction with Integral PET, is now operating a full-time, fixed 16-slice PET/CT scanner. This state-of-the-art equipment-the first of its kind in the Doylestown area-allows physicians to more effectively diagnose, stage, and monitor therapy for a variety of cancers and to diagnose multiple neurological and cardiac diseases.
The PET/CT Center at Doylestown Hospital is a suite of well-appointed rooms specifically designed to provide comfort and convenience for PET/CT patients. The PET/CT center is an accredited facility through the American College of Radiology.
PET/CT interpretations are performed by Doylestown Hospital's board-certified radiologists, including the program's director, Mark Silidker, MD who has extensive expertise in PET/CT interpretations. He believes, "the tremendous impact PET/CT will have in our community is the ability to combine the anatomic strength of CT with the physiologic changes detected by PET. This often facilitates in earlier detection of cancers." Adds the Director of the Cancer Program at Doylestown Hospital, Mitchell Alden, DO, "PET/CT is the most sensitive tool available. I am pleased that the Doylestown Hospital has continued to improve cancer-related services with the installation of a full-time PET/CT scanner in the new outpatient Pavilion Building." Combining 2 imaging technologies, PET/CT "will allow oncologists to precisely pinpoint sites of cancer within the body," according to William Rate, MD, a radiation oncologist at the hospital. "When this information is used in radiation therapy treatment planning, it will enable us to better locate and kill malignant cells, with improved sparing of normal tissue."
The new PET/CT Center at Doylestown Hospital is located on the ground floor of the Pavilion Building-replacing the 2-day-a-week mobile PET that previously served the hospital. Also available are a full range of ancillary services, from expert assistance with insurance claims to complimentary valet parking.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 215-345- 2181.
