What is Aquatic Therapy?
Aquatic therapy is a form of skilled Physical Therapy that utilizes water as a medium to assist in improving the functional performance of patients with limitations. Aquatic physical therapy has been proven to relax muscles, improve range of motion, strength, and endurance in a decreased or non-weight bearing environment.
About Our Program
Our aquatic therapy program is a skilled physical therapy program under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. Doylestown Hospital has offered aquatic therapy since 1986 and has helped hundreds of individuals regain their functional independence.
All aquatic sessions are held at a state-of-the-art aquatic facility at the Health & Wellness Center by Doylestown Hospital.
Aquatic physical therapy must be ordered by your physician.
What does the therapy entail?
First, the physicial therapist will perform an evaluation and develop an individualized therapy program to meet your needs.
The therapist and/or assistant will provide guidance in carrying out your program. Most of our patients progress to a land physical therapy program or aquatic maintenance program, depending on their individual needs.
