Victor Hsu, MD
Medical School:  Temple University
Residency:  Temple University Hospital
Fellowship: San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders

Professional Profile

Dr. Victor Hsu specializes in treatment of spinal disorders and spine surgery. He graduated with a medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Hsu completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Temple University Hospital. He successfully completed fellowship training at the San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders in La Jolla, California.

Dr. Hsu feels that spine surgery is among the most complex in orthopedic surgery and as a result, the reward from treating spine patients is the most gratifying. Using minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Hsu is able to help his patients heal more quickly and improve quality of life. "The procedures I specialize in are the least invasive procedures available to get the job done right," he says.  Still, he is cautious about using the latest technology until it is proven effective. "I think it is more important to be able to get the job done well than to be able to do it the 'newest' way," says Dr. Hsu.

Dr. Hsu has presented papers and abstracts at several professional conferences. He has completed additional coursework on fractures, joint arthroplasty and upper extremity trauma. He is a member of the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Scoliosis Research Society.

Personal Profile

Dr. Hsu's philosophy of patient care is simple: "My practice philosophy is the same philosophy I use in all things and what we all learn at a young age and that is to treat others like you want to be treated." He views patients as partners in decision making about their care, taking time to get to know them and build trust. "I feel it is important that the patient understands everything that is going on and what options are available," says Dr. Hsu, "and then an educated decision can be made in a team-like fashion." Teamwork is something that sets Doylestown Hospital apart. "Doylestown has a very close-knit feel to me from the operating room staff to the floor nurses to the attending physicians," says Dr. Hsu.

For Dr. Hsu, family is most important. His hobbies include basketball, golf, tennis and weight training. He enjoys giving talks to the community about spine and other orthopedic issues.
