Shunming (Sue) Zhu
Shunming (Sue) Zhu was born and raised in the Shanghai region of China. Shanghai is located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, and is the largest city in China. After high school, she studied accounting in college. She became an accountant at a car dealership after graduating. Sue and her husband, Wenjie, came to the United States in 1998, settling in Warminster. His family lives in New York, while Sue’s family remains in China.
Sue joined the Doylestown Hospital Environmental Services team as a housekeeping aide in 2004. "I like working with the patients," she says. "I chat with them, and sometimes they say, ‘oh, you make me feel better’." It is her goal to keep the patients’ rooms thoroughly clean and do what’s best for the patients. She says she truly cares about the patients and their needs.
According to Mary Battle, director of Environmental Services: "What makes Shunming (Sue) special to the Environmental Services Department is the quality of her work, her caring attitude and her contagious enthusiasm. Sue is a role model for DH, her peers and patients/customers. She has gotten many letters of compliments from her patients and their visitors. Sue has a great relationship with her managers, co-workers and nursing staff in the areas where she is assigned. Sue is always on time for work and never calls out. She treats everyone with respect at all times. She is very knowledgeable with DH cleaning policies and procedures. She shows empathy and compassion when dealing with the needs of her patients/customers. We are glad to have Sue on our team."
Sue and her husband have a son, Maxwell, 11. She enjoys traveling and cooking traditional Chinese food. She returns to China every few years to visit her family.
