March 2013 BRAVO Award
Senior Clinical Recruiter
Melissa Manibo was born in Philadelphia and raised in Holland, Bucks County. After graduating from Council Rock High School, she attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. Melissa was introduced to the field of recruiting when she was looking for a summer job. She was hooked, and turned her career sights to recruiting. After working at Hobart West in Princeton, NJ, as a recruiter and office manager, Melissa became a corporate recruiter for General Healthcare Resources in Plymouth Meeting.
Melissa joined Doylestown Hospital as a clinical recruiter in 2007, and is currently a senior clinical recruiter. She recruits all nursing and clinical positions for the hospital, including patient care technicians, unit clerks, lab personnel and more.
"I like meeting new people," Melissa says. "Every day I get to meet someone new and tell them about the opportunities here." She enjoys finding the right person for the job, and matching people to a job for which they are best suited and that meets their interests. In particular, Melissa enjoys watching the nursing students grow, from being placed as general nurses through to finding RN positions.
When it comes to the Human Resources department, Melissa says, "We're a family here." She also enjoys the friendly environment of the hospital overall. "I always tell job candidates it's a unique environment here. Everyone is so nice and you're never going to find anything else like it."
According to Vice President, Human Resources Barb Hebel: "Aug 13, 2007 was a great day in HR - Melissa's first day. Since that time she has ALWAYS given 110%. Nothing is too much for her. She has a keen ability to "read" people, which is an essential skill for a "great" recruiter; Melissa is a "great" recruiter.
She is also a strong problem solver - very supportive to the managers she works with. She goes out of her way to make potential candidates feel welcome and enthused about being members of the Doylestown Hospital family.
'No' is not in Melissa's vocabulary when asked to help out. She always will help and is always positive. She is flexible in order to meet the needs of the applicants and managers alike. Melissa thinks outside the box to come up with great solutions. She has a great awareness of the job market for the areas that she recruits. She is a GEM."
Melissa and husband, Joe, live in Chalfont with their three children: Christian, 10, Katie, 8, and Ryan, 6. She enjoys spending time with her children, taking them to various extracurricular activities and participating at their school.
