Audrey Fleck grew up in Easton, PA. She became particularly interested in nutrition and fitness as a senior at Notre Dame High School in Easton. Audrey graduated with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University. She completed a year-long internship in clinical nutrition at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She then worked at a nursing home and also consulted for an HIV clinic in Easton.

Audrey joined Doylestown Hospital in April 2012 as an outpatient nutrition therapist. One of her main functions is running the Weigh to Lose program for hospital Associates and community members. She also counsels individuals and runs classes and support groups. Audrey is at the Cancer Institute one day a week to offer nutritional guidance to cancer patients. She also conducts community lectures and represents the hospital at health fairs.

For Audrey, living a healthy lifestyle built upon good nutrition and exercise isn’t about the way you look. “I like making people feel good about themselves,” she says. “I like helping people change their lives and create lifestyle changes that affect their health and the way they feel.”

Audrey is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine through the University of Western States. In this “different model of medicine,” Audrey says treating patients is done with a systems approach that looks at the root cause of issues, not the symptoms. These issues are often related to nutrition and have significant impact on health.

According to Diabetes Education’s Patricia A. Trymbiski, DNP, CDE, BC-ADM: “Audrey has gone above and beyond to serve her clients, whether through Weigh to Lose or individual consults. She provides fabulous reference materials and motivational information. She flexes her schedule to accommodate individuals’ work schedules.

Audrey has an infectious enthusiasm for inspiring people! She developed, from square one, and operationalized the Weigh to Lose program. She may challenge the group to something, then participate in the challenge herself. She has been extremely conscientious about confidentiality and participants’ sensitivity in the area of weight loss. There have been hundreds of pounds lost!  Audrey has a great “attention to detail” mentality, which is apparent in the quality program she runs. She is an outstanding, well-deserving Associate for this award.”

Audrey lives in Doylestown and says the people at Doylestown Hospital were very welcoming to her when she was new to the area. She enjoys yoga and working out at the gym. She has a special interest in mind-body issues. She likes to cook and also eat out occasionally. Audrey also enjoys seasonal outdoor activities.

Congratulations to an exceptional Associate!
