About Our Lung Cancer Team

The Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital is at the forefront of hospitals serving the Philadelphia northern suburbs in lung cancer care. Our multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists works collaboratively to diagnose, treat and improve outcomes for patients with lung cancer at any stage of their care. We offer patients and families a personalized approach and local access to comprehensive services with an esteemed group of highly skilled experts in lung cancer care.

In addition, we provide patients with access to experienced social workers and nutritionists who specialize in medical oncology. Patients who have lung surgery receive advanced nursing care by our expert intensive care unit (ICU) team with a smooth transition to the hospital’s telemetry unit for continuous monitoring. In addition, early after discharge, the surgical office Physician Assistant (PA) is available for personal house calls to ensure continuity of care and the best outcomes possible.

Oncology Nurse Navigator Provides Extra Support and Care

At the Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital, an integral member of our team is our dedicated Oncology Nurse Navigator, a certified professional who supports patients from their initial diagnosis through survivorship. Our Nurse Navigator communicates directly with patients and their families throughout the entire process to coordinate care and scheduling, efficiently navigate medical and surgical treatment, and provide support and compassion during a challenging and often anxious time. In addition, the Nurse Navigator serves as an educational resource to patients and families, providing explanations and information about diagnostic and treatment options at Doylestown Hospital and offering suggestions for supportive care available to patients.

Meet Our Lung Cancer Team

The entire lung cancer care team collaborates and shares input on how to best manage each patient through daily updates, weekly oncology conferences and tumor board reviews, and teleconferences. As a member of the Penn Cancer Network, our patients have immediate access to the most advanced, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services in the region. If necessary, the team consults with Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center for unusual or complex tumors, to reconfirm a diagnosis, or to acquire more information.
