What to Expect When You Arrive

Patients who enter the Emergency Department are personally greeted by an experienced staff member. They are assessed with universally-established triage criteria.

Patients with non-life-threatening conditions are treated in the Minor Acute Care Unit (MACU), where the goal is to have the patient diagnosed, treated and discharged as quickly as possible.

The main Emergency Department has the following features:

  • 39 private treatment rooms, each with a private bathroom, flat screen TV and wireless Internet access
  • Space in each room to accommodate family members
  • Specialized pediatric and critical care rooms
  • Separate waiting rooms for children and their families
  • Participation in the Doylestown Clinical Network, which allows exchange of medical information with most family doctors and specialists on the Doylestown Hospital Medical Staff.

Technology and Design

The Emergency Department has dedicated equipment including a low-dose CT scanner and all-digital X-ray technology to ensure quick access to diagnostic services.

The Emergency Department is designed for safety and comfort, including measures to prevent infections and an around-the-clock housekeeping team.

The unit is also specially equipped to treat victims of sexual assault or domestic abuse, and handle hazardous materials incidents.

Calm and Beauty

Many generous donors and artists are responsible for the collection of landscape paintings, and glass and tile works featured in the Emergency Department waiting rooms and hallways.

Major Donor Recognition Wall, Mural Artwork - River Reverie, by Karen Singer

Beautiful Bucks County scenes by local artists create the Thompson Organization ER Art Gallery.

Thanks to the many generous donors who have provided works for the collection, the halls of the ER resonate with natural beauty and serenity. Many of the scenes should be familiar to our Bucks County neighbors.
